da betcris: For members of the EFL it’s now the time of year where clubs announce who’ll be retained and who is set to be released at the end of their contract.
Nottingham Forest revealed their list on Tuesday, confirming that a huge 32 first team players would be kept on following the end of the season. Meanwhile, only two senior team members, Stephen Henderson and Jamie Ward are to leave.
Reacting to the news on Twitter, Forest fans were far from happy, lamenting the retained list and calling for a host of current squad members to be cleared out.
One fan called the news pointless and another deemed it outdated. Further supporters made reference to the amount of deadwood being retained as one individual suggested 12 players needed to be sold over the summer.
One tweeter even joked about Martin O’Neill, asking whether he could be released too.
The style of play O’Neill has developed at Forest hasn’t been particularly pleasing and the way they fell away from the play-offs was incredibly poor.
Looking at the sheer number of players retained, it’s likely the club will have plenty of work to do in the summer.
Here is the best of the reaction.
