Less than a week after impressing outside fans with a dazzling display against Arsenal, Leeds have come crashing back down to reality with a 2-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday.
United certainly weren’t at their best on Saturday, and Ben White was quick to give an excuse as to why the Whites lost.
What’s been said then?
The Brighton loanee was speaking in the aftermath of his side’s defeat to their Yorkshire rivals.

“I think we should have scored a couple of goals and then the game goes differently,” White said.
“But we didn’t and they did in the second half.
“I think we played well in the first half. I think we deserved to get something from the game on our first-half display.
“Obviously we did well against Arsenal and we have played like that before against a Championship side but it’s not as big because it’s not against a big side. We will just keep going.”
Attitude adjustment needed
The question that needs to be asked here is why Leeds were more up for an FA Cup game against Arsenal than a crucial league clash against a playoff contender.
Realistically, the Whites were never going to win the FA Cup, but promotion is well within their grasp. They’re six points clear of third place and at this point, every league game is so much more vital than any cup game.
It was good to see Leeds giving it their all against the Gunners, achieving more possession and shots on goal, but that sort of intensity shouldn’t go away when you’re playing at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
Promotion is more important than a win against Arsenal, so why did White and co let their standards drop?
The defender is right, the game against Wednesday wasn’t against a so-called ‘big side’, but the team should be treating every match from now until the end of the season as if it was a cup final.
Failure to do so and they may have to play out another season in the Championship.
