da heads bet: Barcelona midfielder Alex Song has scrapped claims that he could re-join Arsenal in January, according to reports from The Metro.
da bwin: The Cameroonian midfielder has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier League in recent months, with the Gunners and Manchester United being mooted as potential destinations.
Despite having only completed a big move to the Nou Camp last year, Song has been consistently linked with a switch away from the Catalan giants after failing to establish himself as an important first-team player.
Sergio Busquets is seen as Barca’s main holding midfielder, while Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas are preferred in the more advanced roles.
As a result, Song has been an infrequent starter, and has even been deployed at centre-back occasionally.
However, the 26-year-old says that he is happy in Spain and that he is not looking to make a return to Arsenal.
“I am happy at Barcelona,” Song said.
“I play in one of the best leagues in the world, everybody treats me very well, and there are some of the best players in the world here.
“You don’t know what might happen in the future, but I still have a few years left on my contract here.”
Should Arsenal do all they can to re-sign Alex Song?
