da pinup bet： Arsenal fans have fearfully responded to Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira saying they really interested in bringing Kostas Manolas to the club, with many supporters on Twitter doubtful that the defender would be an upgrade on the much-maligned Shkodran Mustafi.
With Laurent Koscielny no longer the dominant force he once was and question marks around the rest of Unai Emery’s defensive options, a new centre-back is a priority for the Gunners.
Mustafi was a regular starter under Emery, making 31 Premier League appearances, but became something of a scapegoat as Arsenal crumbled in the latter stages of the season.
Saint-Etienne prodigy William Saliba has been linked with a move to north London, while Schira has claimed that the club are already in talks with the agent of Manolas.
Manolas has a €36m (£31.5m) release clause in his Roma contract and has established himself as a pillar of the Italian club’s defense since arriving in 2014, making 27 Serie A appearances this season in another strong campaign at the Stadio Olimpico.
