da dobrowin: Sam Allardyce was an early candidate for the Everton manager’s job following Ronald Koeman’s dismissal.
da winzada777: The 63-year-old has been out of work since deciding to step down from the managerial position at Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
Allardyce has been relatively open about his link to the Everton vacancy, and now has confirmed that he is no longer in the running.
In an interview with talkSPORT, the former Sunderland boss revealed that the Toffees were indecisive and did not make him feel as though he was wanted.
“It never materialised as I thought it would unfortunately. For me, such a long time without a decision, I had to make a decision myself. The decision is that it is probably better it wasn’t me.
“It is a fabulous football club. It would have been a fabulous job, but it just didn’t feel right. I think when you’re sat in my position you want people to be decisive and feel like they want you. I didn’t quite get that feeling overall. They were hesitating that I was the man.”
A large majority of Everton fans were not thrilled when ‘Big Sam’ was linked to the job, so some may have breathed a sigh of relief when he took himself out of contention.
Others, though, are frustrated with the Merseyside outfit’s conduct during the managerial hunt, which has so far resulted in the club coming up shot.
At the moment, Under-23s coach David Unsworth is in temporary charge of the first team.
