da cassino: New Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti says he has no intention of signing a new striker for the club during the January transfer window, and he could be making his first mistake since taking charge as a result.
What did he say then?
da heads bet: Well, the 60-year-old was asked following the 1-0 win against Burnley in his opening game at the helm whether he would be looking to bring a new centre-forward to Goodison Park in the New Year, and his response was pretty clear.

He said, via Sky Sports: “No. We didn’t talk about this but for sure I am not asking for a striker because the strikers up front are really good.”
First big mistake
Everton have been calling out for a regular goalscorer ever since Romelu Lukaku departed for Manchester United in 2017, but they have so far failed to find one.
The likes of Cenk Tosun and Moise Kean have arrived on Merseyside for sizeable transfer fees, but they have ultimately failed to deliver with the former scoring 10 goals in 51 outings, and the latter yet to find the net in 17 appearances.
Much of the centre-forward burden has been placed on the shoulders of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison – who isn’t a natural striker – this term, and while they have duly delivered with eight goals in all competitions each, there has been little success behind them in that position.
Kean, Tosun and Oumar Niasse only have one goal between them in 2019/20, and are struggling to displace Calvert-Lewin from the team-sheet.

The fact the Englishman has 17 goals in 95 Premier League outings tells you all you need to know even if he is impressing right now, and the Toffees need a regular goal-getter alongside him if they really do have ambitions of breaking into the top four.
The upcoming transfer window is the perfect opportunity to do that, and given Everton are just 10 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea it is still very much all to play for.
Ancelotti should add that new striker to his list to allow Richarlison to go back on the wing.
