da dobrowin: The Liverpool Echo has reported that the 62-year-old Fulham manager is due on Merseyside to sign a contract after the Reds agreed a £2million compensation package with Fulham for his release.
Hodgson appears to be have beaten off competition from former Real Madrid boss Manuel Pellegrini, Galatasary's Frank Rijkaard and Didier Deschamps of Marseille to land the role.
Kenny Dalglish had also made it clear that he was desperate to take the job on after previously being manager between 1985 and 1991.
Hodgson has a wealth of experience since starting his managerial career with Swedish side Halmstads in 1976.
He has already had 15 different managerial roles including those at Switzerland, Inter Milan and Blackburn Rovers.
