da marjack bet: Chelsea players Salomon Kalou and John Terry have stated their belief that the west London side can beat Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.
Roberto Di Matteo’s men made the last four after beating Benfica 3-1 on aggregate in the quarters, and will now face reigning champions and overwhelming favourites Barcelona.
Chelsea have faced the Catalan giants on a number of occasions in the recent past, namely in 2009; but Kalou is putting that elimination to the back of his mind.
“Of course we remember, it was right there,” he told The Guardian.
“That time we deserved to go through because we had created a lot of chances, and might have had a couple of penalties. But that’s the past. We believe, with the team we have, we can beat them.”
Terry also feels that Pep Guardiola’s men are beatable, and is glad to have made it through to this stage of the competition.
“Two months back I’d have bitten your hand off to be where we are now.
“Those meetings with Barcelona have been some of my proudest memories as a Chelsea player. When they come here, especially, I feel we’ve shown we can take it to them a little bit. Not many teams have really done that to them.
“We realise it’s going to be tough, but we’re a good side, too. We’ve shown over the last month that we’re a match for anyone. If we can be as solid as we have been in the last few games in the Champions League, well, who knows?” he concluded.
