da bet sport: Hull City vice-chairman Ehab Allam has revealed that the club hope to have a new manager in place before the weekend.
da betobet: The Tigers made the surprise decision to sack Mike Phelan on Tuesday, less than three months after hiring him on a permanent basis.
There tends to be a very quick turnaround in football management these days, and Hull are no exception given that they are hunting for a third boss in six months.
The club currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table after taking just 13 points in 20 games.
After the ink dried on Phelan’s new contract, the team could only muster one win in 13 top-flight fixtures, which Hull claim left them no choice but to change personnel.
There is no confirmation yet as to who is on the verge of taking over, but according to Sky Sports News, former Olympiacos boss Marco Silva is the favourite to succeed Phelan.
The Portuguese coach is a free agent having left the Greek outfit in the summer due to personal reasons.
Silva guided Olympiacos to a record 43rd league title, and now he could be handed the task of keeping Hull in the English top division.
The board are hopeful that a new man will be in charge for this weekend’s FA Cup match against Swansea City.
A statement from Allam via Hull’s official website read:
“I expect to have a new management team in place ahead of the weekend. I maintain the belief that the current squad, with two or three key additions during the current transfer window, is good enough to survive in this division.
“I acknowledge that our position in the table will make recruitment more challenging, however all of our efforts are now focussed on enhancing the existing squad with Premier League survival our priority.”
